Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Nishita:

Talk us through your background and your journey, please;

I’ve always wanted to run my own business since I was a child.

My desire to work for myself and make a positive difference in society has led me to where I am now, despite the fact that my journey has only just begun.

In the last few years, I’ve learned a lot, yet there’s still so much more to learn.”

I am a psychology graduate who graduated in the year 2020. I started my master’s degree again last year.

I began my own jewellery brand, Sri Jewels, in December 2020, and I recently started my own career counselling organization (My Career Matters)

How did you discover your passion in ‘Psychology’?

Psychology is a fascinating science in which human emotions, feelings, reactions, and behaviour are discussed. Psychology is employed in our daily lives; anything that involves people is and may be influenced by psychology.

Business is no exception. Business and psychology get along swimmingly. Both of them are under my disposal.

My interest in psychology can be traced back to a simple childhood occurrence. I am a listener who attended to my friends and family members talk about their troubles. My interest in psychology was piqued as I explored this ability.”

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?

What motivates me the most is to see my vision realized, to see the work that I want to accomplish executed; I don’t mind the challenges because I’ve learned that challenges are disguised as lessons; each mistake that you make marks your growth; I no longer tell myself not to make mistakes; instead, I learn from them and move forward.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

I think the women in my life have been a great source of inspiration, my mother, grandmother, and great grandmother all had businesses at one time or another, from being a fruit vendor to running a cafeteria, and their customers still remember them.

I’ve learnt a lot from all of these amazing, hardworking ladies and will continue to learn as I grow my own company.”

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

(1) Reading – I am constantly reading excellent books that I enjoy while attempting to learn too.

(2) Being engaged with some sort of job, as an idle mind is the devil’s factory.

(3) Managing my mental health and taking breaks as necessary.

(4) Being patient

(5) If I get stuck, I will seek assistance or direction.

(6) Focusing on the process rather than just the outcome

What about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?

Building connections with people from all walks of life. It’s thrilling to watch your dreams come true one by one. This adventure has taught me a lot, and I’ve had experiences that I could never have dreamed of or even considered. But I absolutely evolved as a person as a result of them. Sure, the experience was unpleasant, but was it essential to change me?

I was forced out of my comfort zone; the experience was terrifying, but it transformed me into a better person.

Each new blunder I made gave me more boldness and boosted my confidence. My vision motivates me and keeps me enthusiastic.”

You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?

I enjoy writing stories and poetry, and there are times when I realize that I have simply expressed my emotions through art.

It is crucial to express your feelings; when we are pleased, we celebrate, but when we are unhappy, we ignore that emotion.”

It’s a legitimate feeling that should be expressed. So, when anything annoys me or my day isn’t going well, I write it down. One, it allows me to check in on myself, and two, I can clearly see my thoughts and emotions, which aids in the cleansing of the clutter in my head. If you’re having a difficult time understanding yourself, say it out loud.

Listening to music, exercising on a regular basis, taking enough pauses, and establishing emotional stability. These are the things I do to keep myself motivated and positive.

What are the business mantras you have embraced as you sought to establish your success story?

I believe in working smarter rather than harder, therefore if there are things I can automate, I will do so to save time, which I can use to accomplish something else or take a break if required.

Knowledge is everything, and when you gain it, you gain power. As a result, never stop learning.

I also believe I am too young to declare I have it all or know how to be successful right now; this is how I feel right now, but I still have a lot more to experience.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

There are numerous factors that can contribute to someone’s success, but these are the ones that I believe contribute to it:

> Hard work and patience

> Good resources

> Strategic planning yet being flexible

> Having a mentor

> Passion

> Enjoying what you do

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

Do what motivates you, what captivates you, and what you enjoy. Take risks that will help you grow, but avoid doing things that will obstruct your success. Surround yourself with positive people.

Maintain a steady effort toward your goal. Also, keep in mind that there are good days and terrible days. And it’s perfectly acceptable to feel down or unmotivated; what matters is how you bounce back.
